The Online Patient Center is designed to answer some of your questions about what we do and how we do it. At New Jersey Plastic Surgery, we understand that choosing to have plastic surgery is a significant personal decision, and that you may have many questions about the process. We hope to answer some of your questions below. If you have additional questions, kindly contact our office and we will be happy to help.

  • What can I expect during my initial consultation with Dr. DiBernardo?
  • What about your facilities and hospital affiliations?
  • How do I choose the right physician for me?
  • What information do I share with my plastic surgeon?
  • How do I finance my procedure?

Q. What can I expect during my initial consultation with Dr. DiBernardo?
A
. Prior to your visit you can print out and complete your health information packet from our website. During your initial private consultation, you and Dr. DiBernardo will discuss the modification that you would like to make. Dr. DiBernardo will offer you and explain the different options available, discuss the procedure in detail as well as its risks and limitations, and the type of anesthesia that will be used and the qualifications of the anesthesiologists.

Dr. DiBernardo will also explain where the procedure will be done, whether in a hospital or private surgi-center setting, or in the office and why. He will also explain what you can expect after surgery. Also during your meeting, he will also evaluate your health, determine your candidacy for the procedure. Once the exact procedure(s) is determined our patient representative will assist you with the financial aspects, and in obtaining any further information you need.

Q. What about your facilities and hospital affiliations?
A. Aesthetic Center at Montclair is our new home in Montclair, New Jersey. It is the one of the most comprehensive and advanced aesthetic centers in United States. Depending on the type of procedure, we will schedule surgeries in selected professional and private surgical centers that can often reduce the need for overnight hospital stays.

Our out-of-town patients may elect to stay overnight in the hospital or a close-by all suite hotel. Non-surgical procedures will take place in our offices. New Jersey Plastic Surgery maintains affiliations with several major hospitals and private surgery centers in New Jersey.

Q. How do I choose the right physician for me?
A. It is very important that you select a physician with exceptional credentials, training and experience. Whether you choose Dr. DiBernardo or not, we strongly recommend that you consider a surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery but be aware that just because a doctor is “board-certified” doesn’t mean he or she has had training or experience in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.

Be sure your surgeon is experienced in the procedure and certified in their specialty by an appropriate board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties and ask if your physician is a member of professional organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), or the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

Q. What information do I share with my plastic surgeon?
A. You make these considerations and share the following with your physician prior to any procedure:
  • Tell your doctor about any allergies that you know you have (to foods, drugs, environmental elements).
  • Tell your doctor about all medications, herbal supplements or natural supplements you are taking (both prescription and non-prescription).
  • Tell your doctor if you have had any other cosmetic treatments or procedures.
  • Tell your doctor if you smoke for it may lead to certain complications and may affect the way you heal.
  • Carefully follow any guidance your surgeon gives you about eating and drinking.
  • Keep away from aspirin and aspirin-containing medicines for at least two weeks prior to surgery if you will have anesthesia or sedation.
  • Have someone drive you home after surgery and help you for a few days afterward, if needed.

Q. How do I finance my procedure?
A. New Jersey Plastic Surgery offers patients the option to finance their procedure. Ask your patient representative about the various financing programs we offer.
New Jersey Plastic Surgery also accepts major credit cards and personal checks.
